Arkon Resources CM626

Arkon Resources, a PDA accessory manufacturer, has come out with a new universal mount, the CM626. It is by far their most universal mount yet. Compatible with Palm and Pocket PC devices, I would say this mount is the best in its class.
When I first received the box, I was surprised at the size of it, but it turns out that some assembly is required. After fiddling around with it for a minute or two, I gave up and turned to the directions, which were very clear and easy to follow. Half a minute later, I was up and running. Well, at least up.
I first tested the side adjusters, to see the width that it would accommodate. It appeared to be wide enough to fit an iPAQ with CF sleeve on. Next, I tried the bottom adjusters, which I found to be stiff, and a bit hard to move. Luckily, you shouldn’t have to move them too much, unless you want to attach a cable to the bottom of the device.
My last test was the suction cup. At first glance, it looked like a pad was attached to the suction cup; but it turned out to just be an unusual shape. This unusual shape however, was extraordinarily strong. I put it up against a window, slid the slider to tighten it, and then let go. It stayed up. And stayed up. And stayed up some more. Finally, ten minutes later, I decided to give it a little tug. So I pulled at it. Nothing. I pulled a little harder. It still wouldn’t budge. Finally, I applied over a hundred pounds of pressure to it, and the window started to shake. I released it. I gave up, and just released the slider. It came right off.
To conclude, this is a little device that packs a lot of suction power. I would trust it to hold up my PDA any day, anytime, anywhere. While it is a little expensive, $44.95, it does make traveling with your PDA more convenient.
